Semarang, September 30, 2025 – The Master of Environmental Science (MIL) Study Program at the Diponegoro University (Undip) Graduate School successfully held a Public Lecture with the crucial theme: “Climate Change and Sustainable Development: Integrating Science, Society, and Community Action.” The event, held in MIL Lecture Room A-402, 4th Floor, Graduate Building A, was officially opened by the Dean of the Undip Graduate School and attended by dozens of postgraduate students and academics. This public lecture aimed to bridge scientific knowledge on climate change with real-world implementation in society and industry. The public lecture featured four prominent speakers from diverse backgrounds, who provided comprehensive perspectives on the topic:
Prof. Dr. Ir. Purwanto, DEA (Undip Academic): Highlighting the integration of science in addressing the challenges of climate change at the regional and global levels.
Dr. Medelina K. Hendytio, MA (Deputy Executive Director of CSIS): Discussed the role of communities and policies in encouraging collective action for sustainable development.
Dr. Yanuar Luqman, S.Sos, M.Si (Undip Academic): Provided insights on the social and communication aspects of mobilizing community participation on environmental issues.
Armytanti Hanum Kasmito (Regional Public Affairs Manager, PACS, CCEP Indonesia): Shared best practices and strategies of the private sector (corporations) in supporting sustainability and adaptation to the impacts of climate change.

The event, which began at 8:30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), provided an interactive discussion forum, where participants gained in-depth insights into the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration between academics, policymakers, civil society, and the industrial sector. In his remarks, the Dean of the Undip Graduate School emphasized that this type of public lecture is a crucial step in preparing graduates who not only master theory but are also able to apply practical solutions to future environmental challenges. This public lecture is expected to inspire participants, particularly Master of Environmental Science students, to become proactive agents of change in realizing sustainable development that is resilient to climate change.
