Semarang, June 18, 2025 – The Master of Environmental Science Study Program successfully held an online public lecture on the crucial topic of mining practice and management, a case study of nickel mining in Morowali. The event attracted a large audience of 135 participants from various backgrounds, including students, lecturers, and practitioners.
The public lecture, which took place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, featured Dr. Ida Sumarsih, S.H., M.K.Kn., a mining practitioner, as the main speaker. The discussion on the challenges and management of nickel mining in Morowali was moderated by Prof. Dr. Adji Samekto, S.H., M.Hum.
The participants’ enthusiasm was evident throughout the event. Even Prof. Dr. Sudharto P. Hadi, M.E.S., a leading expert, followed the lecture attentively and actively, asking questions.
The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Graduate School, Prof. Ir. Mochamad Agung Wibowo, M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D., who in his remarks emphasized the importance of a thorough understanding of environmental issues in mining practices.
