SEMARANG, October 16, 2025 – The Master of Environmental Science and Doctor of Environmental Science study programs demonstrated their commitment to environmental conservation by actively participating in the “Mageri Segoro” Movement launched by the Governor of Central Java.
This simultaneous mangrove planting activity took place on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, and covered 17 regencies/cities along the coast of Central Java. “Mageri Segoro,” which literally means “fencing the sea,” is a strategic initiative of the Central Java Provincial Government to address the threat of abrasion and protect coastal ecosystems. The participation of academics from the Master of Environmental Science and Doctoral study programs demonstrates the strong synergy between education, particularly environmental science, and the development and nature conservation programs implemented by the local government. The involvement of students and lecturers from both study programs is expected to extend beyond planting to include scientific studies, growth monitoring, and the development of sustainable coastal area management models.
