Penggaron Forest is a catchment area (DTA) of the Babon river and its tributaries which often causes flooding in the eastern part of Semarang City. The condition of the Penggaron forest area, particularly plots 16, 17 and 18; in the form of hills with a slope of land mostly more than 30% and tends to be prone to erosion. There is an enclave, which is a settlement in a forest area, namely one Kaligawe hamlet. One of forest management in Perhutani is community participation through PHBM (Community Forestry) mechanism. In this case, there are about 84 Pesanggem in Penggaron Forest, especially plots 16, 17 and 18 with a land area of about 92.1 Ha.
The condition of the Penggaron forest requires conservation efforts, one of which is reforestation. Reforestation will be carried out in some areas that are already critical with rare plants and fruit. From these activities, apart from being a conservation effort, it also increases the income of the Susukan and Kaligawe Village communities. This activity was designed in the form of counseling and reforestation practices by involving the communities of Susukan and Kaligawe Villages. The implementation of outreach and socialization “Reforestation as a land conservation effort in KHDTK is going well and has received a positive response from members of the Mitra Lestari Farmer Group. The seeds that have been provided in the form of fruit plants and rare trees totaling 500 seedlings are ready to be planted at the KHDTK location. It is hoped that reforestation in KHDTK Dipo Forest will be an effort to conserve land, soil, water and biodiversity in the Penggaron forest.
